About the Independent IR Residency Program


The Vascular and Interventional Radiology Independent Residency Program with Miami Vascular provides a unique opportunity for trainees to develop into a true clinical interventionalist. Sponsored by USF, our program has received approval for the following: 1. Two Year Independent IR Residency 2. One Year of Final Residency Training for the Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR). Having been established in July 1, 1989, Miami Vascular has over 30 years of excellence in training Vascular and Interventional Radiology Residents and Fellows.
Scope of Interventional Procedures


The scope of the IR Independent Residency is comprehensive vascular and interventional training that includes percutaneous vascular interventions, nonvascular interventions, embolotherapy, clinical research and trials and much more.

Research & Scholarly Activity


In addition to the skills, knowledge and abilities each resident is expected to be able to demonstrate at the completion of his/her training, he/she is also expected to plan and complete an investigative project or scholarly activity during the year. This is a requirement for satisfactory completion of training.
Access to Library and Literature Research


Residents and faculty have 24/7 networked access from the University of South Florida Shimberg Health Sciences Library to a comprehensive electronic library with links to over 800 electronic journals and 100 medical textbooks and other web-based information sources.
