Alex Powell, M.D., has been an interventional radiologist at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute since 1997. He is currently Medical Director of Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Powell received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California in Los Angeles and his medical degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he was also chief resident from 1995-1996. Dr. Powell completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of California in San Diego.
Dr. Powell is Board-certified by the American College of Radiology and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in vascular interventional radiology. He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.
Dr. Powell has published numerous articles and book chapters on various aspects of endovascular medicine. He treats all types of peripheral artery disease including critical limb ischemia, vascular malformation and aneurysm repair. He also has a keen interest in interventional oncology as well as non vascular interventional radiology. He has lectured around the world.
He is a program director for the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET) and Symposium on Clinical Interventional Oncology (CIO).
