The Miami Vascular-IVR faculty will serve as mentor and co-investigators. Completion of the project implies writing it up as a formal scientific manuscript for one of the national journals. The residents are encouraged to go to one national meeting during the year. Ideally, the residents should submit his/her project for presentation at the national meeting that he/she chooses to attend. If the project is completed, then presented at a national/international meeting after the residents leaves Miami Vascular, Miami Vascular will still pay for that individual’s meeting and travel.

Objectives

• To learn the process of formulating an investigative thought process including formulating a hypothesis.
• To be able to perform a detailed focused literature search.
• To analyze data in a critical manner, understanding scientific methods.
• To create an abstract worthy of presentation of publication in a scientific meeting or journal.
• Radiology Grand Rounds “Annual Research Presentations” will be presented (place TBA).

Due Dates

• December 1 – Formulate hypothesis for study; complete literature section
• February 1 – Review data and begin abstract
• March 1 – Complete abstract
• May 1 – Complete manuscript/Power Point presentation
• Mid May – Formal presentation
